Nominated for the 2005 Manitoba Business Woman of the Year Award, Monique has been a dancer since she began to walk. Monique started Steppin' Time Dance Studio in the Fall of 1995 and has fostered the growth of the studio to the largest in Brandon with more than 400+ active students. Her students receive professional instruction from accredited teachers in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, stage dance, and hip hop. Her students compete locally, provincially and nationally with great success. Her love of the art, talent as a teacher, and caring nature have created the warm, knowledgeable, and professional environment within which students of Steppin' Time Dance Studio thrive. Monique continually attends dance workshops and teacher training sessions around North America, bringing cutting-edge dance technique and fresh new ideas to her students, building her extensive knowledge of the art form she loves. In July 2006, Monique completed an intensive three-year teacher training program in the ADAPT dance syllabus. Proudly, Steppin' Time Dance Studio is now certified to offer the ADAPT dance syllabus to their students, the only studio in Brandon to achieve such certification.  Monique has also completed ALL levels of the Al Gilbert Syllabus in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet. 

Monique's contribution to the city's arts community doesn't end at her studio doors. As graduate of Neelin High School , she returned to choreograph their major productions for several years including Oklahoma , The King and I , Annie , Camelot , Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story and Fiddler on the Roof. She is a teacher, choreographer and adjudicator throughout our region. Monique has generously shared her talents as a teacher and choreographer with more than a decade of Neelin High School, and Mecca Productions musical productions. Many young performers have developed their talent and confidence under Monique's guidance. Monique's unique, nurturing approach allows performers of all ages and levels of experience to discover the love of dance, to develop confidence in their abilities and to shine on stage! It is her role as mother to Ruby and Rhodes, and wife to Richard, that brings her most joy and of which she is most proud. With their much-loved dogs, they are happy to continue building a life in Brandon, and enjoy being an active part of a vital, arts-loving community.

Dance instruction at Steppin' Time Dance Studio creates a well-rounded, student-centered program in the study of the art of dance. The talented members of the faculty offer classes to new and returning students in Jazz, Hip Hop, Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, (Royal Academy of Dance and Cecchetti), Pointe and Tap.

"Tap, Pre-Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical Instructor" Certified Instructor in the Al Gilbert Syllabus, Bachelor of Education

Kristen Yuel is a certified dance instructor and she holds a Bachelors Degree in Education and a Business Administration Diploma. She is currently employed by the Brandon School Division as a substitute teacher. However, Kristen’s true love lies with dance. She was a dancer herself at a very early age and continued to peruse many forms of dance throughout her childhood. She became certified in the Al Gilbert Syllabus for tap and jazz completing her Grade 8 Tap and Grade 4 Jazz. Kristen began instructing dance classes in 1997 at Steppin Time Dance Studio in Brandon. In 2002 she took over as the sole instructor of the Virden Dance Club. Kristen is the choreographer for Mecca’s Pride of Westman and Charisma performance groups, and for Neelin High School’s annual major productions. She has adjudicating experience with Rolling River, Deloraine Border, and the Virden Festival of the Arts. Kristen is married to her husband Dave, and they  have two youngsters Willem and Mila. Kristen’s love of dance and children makes her an incredible dance teacher. Her energy and commitment to her students and the studio is remarkable. Steppin’ Time is  fortunate to have her on staff! 

Tamara Topsnik Hicks
Tamara Topsnik Hicks

Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical Instructor, R.A.D.R.T.S (Royal Academy of Dance Certified Instructor

Tamara Topsnik Hicks R.A.D.R.T.S. moved to Brandon in 1993 after teaching for four years in British Columbia at her own school, Marpole Studio of Dance. She is a graduate of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet professional Division. Tamara Topsnik Hicks performed with the Royal Winnipeg in their productions of Swan Lake, Nutcracker and Giselle in 1988. She toured with the R.W.B. to Japan. In 1989 she danced in Germany in the “Nick Haberstich Ballet Company”. Mrs. Hicks is a registered Royal Academy of Dance teacher and is qualified to enter students in R.A.D. exams. She has been an adjudicator with A.M.A.F. since 1995 and has loved every opportunity of sharing her knowledge with others.

Toning/Core Fitness for Adults and Company Dancers

Gail Nykoliation embraced physical activity ~15 years ago as a way to manage weight and feel better. 12 years ago, Gail trained and mentored under some of Brandon's best fitness instructors. Gail is a Certified Fitness Instructor Specialist and Certified Personal Training Specialist with CanFitPro [Canadian Fitness Professionals] (nationally recognized certification). Gail teaches Boot Camp, Step, Aerobics, Toning, Intervals, Core, Yoga, and Power Walking. I'm an avid runner having completed several half marathons in many different cities.  

Katey Rogowsky

Hip-Hop Instructor

Katey Rogowsky is a dancer/instructor who has recently completed a BFA in Dance at the University of Calgary, where she has extensively trained in Contemporary and Jazz, as well as focuses in Pedagogy, Anatomy, Conditioning, and Design & Production. She has studied many forms of dance such as Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Hip Hop. She has worked with choreographers and has performed works from: Peggy Baker, Melanie Kloetzel, Michèle Moss, Deanne Walsh, Mario Velez Jr. and others. As well, Katey has created multiple choreographic works that have been presented at the University of Calgary. In addition to her training at the university, Katey is a certified Tap instructor in Al Gilbert Tap syllabus, and has completed her Advanced Foundation RAD ballet exam. Katey has been teaching for over 5 years, and is passionate about sharing her movement knowledge with her students.                           

Bailey Pelletier

Lyrical, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pre-Ballet Instructor

Bailey Pelletier was a dedicated student at Steppin’ Time for over 10 years. Throughout that period, she completed the Al Gilbert Tap and Jazz examination syllabuses, becoming a certified instructor in both disciplines. She has had experience teaching tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and primary ballet. This year she will continue teaching at Steppin’ Time and in other rural towns around Southwest Manitoba. Last May, Bailey received her Yoga Teacher certification in Bali, Indonesia and will be incorporating her new skills into the studio atmosphere. She is in her second year at Brandon University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree with focus on the areas of Political Science and Drama, and hopes to attend law school within the next few years. Dance was Bailey’s first love and is proud to say that it has shaped the person she has become. She considers it an honour to be able to be able to share her passion with students of all ages in both dance and yoga and is very excited to experience what the up and coming year has in store.

Jayden Case
Jayden Case

Ballet, Tap, Lyrical,  Hip-Hop, Pre-School Instructor

Jayden Case has been dancing ever she was just six years old. She has studied many genres including tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, hip hop, stage dance, and lyrical. Jayden has completed all of her tap and jazz exams, and is now certified in the Al Gilbert syllabus. She has also completed her Advanced Ballet exam in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Jayden has had the opportunity to work at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and The National Ballet School of Canada for summer programs, as well as be apart of Team Canada for tap dance. Jayden's hard work and love for kids drives her to be extremely excited to take on more classes this year and share her love of dance.

Bailey Forster
Bailey Forster

Lyrical Instructor

Bailey began dancing at the age of 8 and it has been an incredibly important part of her life for the last 10 years. She has had training in jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, lyrical, stage dance, and hip hop. For several years Bailey has been a company dancer and assistant teacher. She has taken exams in tap, jazz, and ballet, and became a certified jazz teacher after completing the Al Gilbert Jazz Syllabus. In addition to the time she spends at the studio, Bailey is studying sciences at Brandon University. She looks forward to teaching and hopes to inspire her students to share her love of dancing.

Courtney Morgan
Courtney Morgan

Jazz & Hip-Hop Instructor

Courtney Morgan has been at the studio since she was 3, and over the past 17 years she studied all styles of dance while continuing her schooling, working, and volunteering on the side. Courtney has been assisting classes since she was 12, but when she was asked to become an instructor at the age of 16, she was more than happy to take on that role and was excited to watch her students love of dance grow and to be apart of it. In 2015 Courtney graduated from Vincent Massey and moved out in the same month because she was so excited to see what life had in store for her, and now she's super happy to still be apart of the steppin time family !

Taylor Orchard
Taylor Orchard

Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pre-School Instructor

Taylor Orchard has been dancing since the age of three. Throughout her fourteen years of dance, she has studied many genres including lyrical, ballet, pointe, jazz, stage dance, hip hop and tap. Taylor has completed her grade 8 tap exam as well as her grade 4 jazz exam to become certified in the Al Gilbert syllabus. In addition, she has completed her Intermediate Ballet exam in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Not only does Taylor teach at Steppin' Time but she also has run the Carberry Dance Program since the age of fifteen where she continues to expand her love of teaching to her hometown. Taylor has competed frequently at the studio while also getting the chance to compete in Reisa, Germany on the Canadian National Tap Dance team. Taylor's love for dance and dedication makes her thrilled to share her passion to all of her student this year.

Kyra Lavoie
Kyra Lavoie

Hip-Hop Instructor

Kyra Lavoie has been dancing at Steppin' Time Dance Studio since the age of 8. Over the last 9 years she has enjoyed learning many forms of dance including ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and stage dance. Last spring Kyra completed her grade 8 tap exam in the Al Gilbert Syllabus. Kyra has also completed her grade 4 jazz exam. In 2012 Kyra was honoured to compete as a member of Canada's Tap Team that travelled to Riesa Germany. An experience she will never forget. Kyra is thrilled to share her love of dance with her students!

Brooke Webber
Brooke Webber

 Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Pre-Ballet, Instructor

Brooke is a Steppin’ Time Dance Studio alumni and after being an assistant teacher for quite a few years, she joined the teaching staff and has loved it ever since. After a few years of teaching, she was offered the chance to take over as the sole instructor of the Midwest School of Dance, a popular dance program in Hamiota. This opportunity has only solidified her love of dance even more and pushed her to learn new genres and develop her teaching style further. Brooke became a Certified Acrobatic Arts Instructor in the summer of 2017 and is looking forward to offering classes and continuing her certification further. Along with the time she spends at the studio, Brooke is currently enrolled at Brandon University in the Bachelor of Business Administration program. Brooke is very excited and honoured to share her love of dance with all of her students and is excited for the dance season ahead!
